In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Fresno; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–8:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach New China Cafe at (559) 266-6508; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 260 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Fresno is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Fresno is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Arrived around 6ish in the evening for dinner, it is clean, small inside but cozy comfortable, generously portioned, hot, authentic taste, pricing is affordable. Very filling! We will be back! #recommend πŸ˜‹

Love the food here still the best Chinese food in Fresno!!!! I have ate here for years since I was a little girl and remember seeing Cecilia's daughter and son doing their homework on the front right hand table but now it's been remodeled love everything they did to it. I know the son put his twist on it. I just missed the father's cooking and I miss Cecilia coming out and greeting us. The food is still a 10 out of 10... I know when the son is in the back.. It's reminds me of his father's touch... Wish good fortune and good prosperity....

The interior and decoration is very nice along with the wall art. The servings are very generous and monstrous. The veggie egg rolls are very tasty and I would get them again. The service is also very quick and we had a 20 minute wait time max, but at the same time everyone’s dishes came separately. I would definitely come back. Workers are also very nice and I appreciated how kind my server was.

I came here for the first time. Food was ok but had more rice then what I had ordered . I ordered almond chicken with rice and fried noodles it looked good and plenty when i got it but at the bottom was way too much rice!! I had way more rice than noodles on my plate . Plus too many carrots and peas also. I barely had any noodles! Plus my noodles weren't even fried like I told them too πŸ™„πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Drinks are over priced also. $3.85 for a fountain drink. $1.50 for a bottled water?! No thanks. I won't be coming back again.

New China Cafe Review The Mongolian beef was excellent! We asked for our noodles to be extra fried, but they came out regular. Even so, they were still delicious. We also ordered the broccoli beef and requested the beef to be well done. It came out regular as well, but it was still very tasty. Overall, the food was delicious, and the service was great. We’ll definitely give them another shot and see how the next visit goes. I’ll keep everyone updated!
